Grindstone Lakes offer trophy trout in a private secluded setting. These fly fishing only lakes are located in Central Oregon's sagebrush steppe on the flank of the Ochoco Mountains east of Bend Oregon. These five lakes have an outstanding combined two hundred surface acres of water. They boast an exceptional habitat providing prolific insect life. Hatches include chironomids, callibaetis, damsels, and caddis. There are leeches, scuds, dragonflies, waterboatmen and snails. The lakes offer an exceptional fly fishing experience. Our season begins in early spring. The season continues through fall.
The
fish are spoken of in pounds, not in inches. At Grindstone Lakes you can
catch the fish of a lifetime. A minimum of a 5-weight fly rod is
mandatory. The
beginner as well as the seasoned veteran can enjoy outstanding fly fishing
at Grindstone Lakes. The
lakes can be fished from shore, float tubes or pontoon boats.
There
are a limited number of rods per day at this "catch and release"
fishery! |

"Grindstone Lakes with Rodger Carbone have been a wonderful annual experience for us for more than a decade. Quality fish, the Oregon countryside, and the professionalism of Rodger and his crew, keep us coming back. This is a first class operation at a reasonable price. " Dennis Harlowe "I have been going to Grindstone Lakes for eighteen years. It is situated in a beautiful and unspoiled location in the high desert country of central Oregon. The fish are plentiful, big and hot. Rodger and his crew are experts at taking care of the needs of all anglers regardless of their level of experience." Alex Polson "Had one of the best fishing experiences we've ever had....I highly recommend the "Grindstone Experience" since I've been there twice and have had a great time on each occasion."
